Addressing loneliness among young people at school
Webinar 1 – in a series of events on this subject
There is currently much concern about high levels of loneliness among young people. In this webinar series, we focus on experiences of loneliness at school, a main context for children and young people’s lives. During the school years, severe loneliness can have a negative impact on young people’s educational engagement and attainment, as well as their mental and physical health. . This series is intended to bring together educationalists and others working with children and young people, and to encourage reflection, discussion and action on what can and should be done to address loneliness in schools.
In the first event of this series,, you will hear about Neighbourly Lab’s research into co-designing action to reduce loneliness in secondary schools; Astree’s peer support approach to addressing loneliness at school, which is already well-established in France; and new work on school belonging by PiXL.
This event is for school leaders and staff, professionals working with schools or supporting efforts to address loneliness among young people, and anyone with an interest in loneliness at school.

You will learn about an evidence-based framework for addressing loneliness among young people at school.
You will hear insights into a range of actions and approaches that could be combined to support whole-school system change.
You will have the opportunity to share your views on the challenges and ways forward, and to become part of a wider network of professionals working to address loneliness in schools.
