In recent years understanding and tackling loneliness has been a significant focus in the UK. Now more than ever, it is important that statistics reflect the world we live in, and that they are accessible to those who need them in order to provide services and support.
Since 2019, and throughout the pandemic, as part of OSR’s ongoing work regulating statistics, they have been keeping abreast of statistics on loneliness. This systemic review provides an overview of the currently available statistics on loneliness, explores the needs of users of the statistics and provides some suggestions that would increase the public value of statistics on loneliness.
