Oma’s Soep will be taking over the latest Coffee Catch Up on 2nd April, 12PM to meet individuals or organisations to collaborate with to help carry out their mission in the U.K Oma’s Soep (Granny’s Soup) is a Dutch soup brand with a mission – to tackle loneliness amongst the elderly by connecting young and old through various regular activities, where they facilitate shared meals and meaningful connections.
They do this by connecting young and old through various regular activities, where we facilitate shared meals and meaningful connections. As a social enterprise, they’ve built a strong network in the Netherlands, where student-led local foundations organise Cooking days, Soup-at-home visits, and community events to foster intergenerational connections. Now, they’re eager to bring this model to the UK—starting with cities like Oxford, Durham, Sheffield, and Exeter—where we are already engaging with universities to establish student boards that will lead these local initiatives.
They look forward to learning from other Hub members about their experiences working in this space and are keen to understand the UK context better—how to effectively engage elderly people, what approaches have worked elsewhere, and how to attract funding to get our initiatives off the ground.
They’d love to explore potential collaborations, whether through knowledge sharing, joint projects, or other forms of support.
If you’re working on similar initiatives or have insights to share, they’d be delighted to connect over a cup of coffee (or a bowl of soup)!
