Beyond the Game: Understanding Loneliness in Sport.

In this webinar, Dr. Trish Jackman (Senior Lecturer, University of Lincoln) will explore the complex relationship between sport and loneliness, presenting key insights from a comprehensive review of nearly 200 studies published in the International Review of Sport and Exercise Psychology. The session will examine why some individuals experience a deep sense of connection through sport, while others feel isolated despite being surrounded by teammates and fellow athletes.
Dr. Jackman, accompanied by Danielle Nutter, will also discuss the factors that influence social connection in sporting environments, and consider how sports environments can be designed to better support meaningful social inclusion for all.
